So I’ve done some shopping…I’m not proud of my addiction, but I understand it’s better than most. This is an extremely collective haul of books, some that I received as gifts and some that were free and some that were fewer than five dollars. So without further ado, let’s see what I’ve bought lately.
Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy
Along with this book, I picked up a little bookmark that says “Eat.Sleep.Read.” The perfect mantra for me. It’s a book about a girl who thinks she’s going to die from cancer, so she confesses all these truths to people. She ends up surviving her ailment and is left to deal with the consequences of her actions. It seemed like an easy read to pick up between classes and before bed when school starts.
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
I picked this one up in a used bookstore in New York called Westsider Books. My friend recommended it to me because I was looking for a little mystery in my life at the time.
Assholes* A Theory by Aaron James
I picked this book up at my local Barnes and Noble. I’d been eying it for awhile, and it seemed like an interesting read about why people suck. I’m always open to learning about people, especially why they suck.
Subliminal: How Your Unconscious Mind Rules Your Behavior by Leonard Mlodinow
I saw someone talk about this book on YouTube, and it grabbed my attention the second I walked into the bookstore. I loved psychology in high school, and this book seemed really interesting to read during the summer while I still had time to digest it.
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
This is another book I found in that amazing used bookstore in New York. I’ve always wanted to read “Anna Karenina” and now I finally have a great copy to tuck into my bag with me.
How to be a Heroine by Samantha Ellis
Another pretty little number I’ve been looking into purchasing. This book covers all your basic heroines (think Jane Eyre) and their characteristics. I thought this would be interesting to read and also interest me in reading the books of said heroines.
A Million Little Pieces by James Frey
The Barnes and Nobel I visited while I was in New Jersey was amazing. Honestly, I was really intrigued by the cover of this novel and the man’s story seems like something that deserves reading. The book follows a man on his journey to recovery from addiction.
Sweet Forgiveness by Lori Nelson Spielman
My mom gave me this book as a welcome home gift when I went home for a few days. I honestly can’t tell you what it’s about, but it looks like a cute read.
Identical by Scott Turow
I’ve been interested in reading this book ever since I saw it on sale. I finally decided to pick it up when I was in New Jersey a couple of weeks ago. It’s about identical twins intertwined in a dangerous story involving the Senate and prison.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I’ve seriously been meaning to read this since I was in high school. I’ve heard only but good things about it and it’s on so many reading lists, I had to pick this one up.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews
And finally, I bought “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” (which I will have a review up about tomorrow). I picked this up because I loved the cover, and I had heard great things about it. I actually didn’t know anything about the movie at the time, but I’ve heard it’s way better, so I may have to go see it.
Let me know what you’ve been purchasing lately in the comments below.
Happy reading,
Kimberly
