Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. With the year coming to a close (10 days ’til Christmas!), today I am going to talk to ya’ll about the best books I read in 2015 (in order of appearance).
1. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank. L. Baum
Such a wonderful tale that expands upon the movie and makes it an even more memorable story for people of all ages.
2. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein
My first introduction into Tolkein’s world, and I was very happy with it. One of my new favorite fantasy tales!
3. Yes Please by Amy Poehler
I can easily say this is one of the best books I read in 2015. It opened my mind to reading a different style of books, and it also introduced me to the amazing Amy Poehler whom I had only had brief contact with before in movies like “Baby Mama.” Such a great book that I recommend to everyone I meet.
4. The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells
This book furthered my love of science-fiction. It’s a classic that is easy to read and is the basis for so many other novels we read today.
5. J by Howard Jacobson
Another book that broadened my horizons, “J” is a mesmerizing dystopian novel that challenges ordinary ways of thinking.
6. Divergent by Veronica Roth
I think I’ve raved about this one enough for all of us.
7. Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
A book recommended to me by a friends, Mr. Penumbra’s did not disappoint. It was a creative story about every book-lover’s dream.
8. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larson
I am truly surprised by how long it took me to actually read this book. I had it in my possession for such a long time and just never picked it up. Nevertheless, I am very grateful that I read this book because it opened my life to the art of a mystery novel.
9. All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
The best young-adult book I have read in a long time. “All the Bright Places” is by far the best YA read I purchased in 2015.
10. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Another book I am surprised I hadn’t read yet but oh so thankful I did, “The Book Thief” is utterly astounding. (Look out for a review coming soon!)
Let me know what your favorite reads of 2015 were in the comments below!
Happy reading,
Kimberly

Ohh, I really liked Mr Penumbra as well! I thought it was very creative and original, quite unlike anything I’ve ever read before. And hey, All The Bright Places also featured in my favourites list this year. 🙂
Here’s my TTT, if you want to take a look.

I love your TTT! Gone Girl is hands down one of the best books I’ve read!

The Hobbit was also my introduction to Tolkein! Such a great book. Sadly, I haven’t read the LoTR trilogy. Saw the movies though ^.^
And H.G. Wells!! I loved his “The Time Machine” it was required reading in college…best required reading I’ve ever been asigned, lol. Great list! A lot of these I have on my TBR and I am eagerly trying to get to them all!

It’s so great to hear about required reading that turned out well!

I know, that almost never happens. It’s a shame. I was taking a Science Fiction class and I thought I’d enjoy more of the readings for it. The Martian Chronicles by Bradbury were among the ones I did totally enjoy though. ^.^

I’ll have to check that out. I love Ray Bradbury!
