It probably goes without saying, but 2020 has been something else. There has been a whole lot of bad, but I also think there has been plenty to be thankful for as well. I instituted my nightly “Good Things” reviews on my Instagram stories, which really helped put everything in perspective and remind me that there are always good things even amongst the bad.
one | friends, family, and everyone in between
Let’s start off easy! I am so lucky to be surrounded by the most caring, empathetic, and supportive people. I wouldn’t be who I am today or have survived 2020 without each and every person that’s been by my side.
two | take-out food
I was never a big take-out person, but obviously, COVID changed things. I’m grateful to have been in the position to order take-out, tip generously, and enjoy the delicious food made by local businesses in Nashville.
three | maggie
Having a cuddly kitten throughout this year truly was a blessing. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes she really can be a little buttmunch, but 99 percent of the time, she’s the sweetest cat in the world.
four | outdoor adventures
I’ve never been a woman of the great outdoors, but after being cooped up in the house for weeks, nothing was better than taking a book to the park or going on a walk with friends.
five | my job
I lot of people lost their jobs, were forced to change their careers, and had to rely on unemployment to squeak by this year. I will forever be thankful that I was able to keep my job, and actually thrive in it and continue to learn and grow in my career in 2020. It wasn’t what I expected, and we are all still working from home, but I’m the luckiest girl in the world to have been able to maintain a stable job this year.
six | i threw a successful fundraiser prior to the pandemic
My co-chair and I raised about $5,000 for our young professional organization back in January, and it was a glorious feeling.
seven | my hair
I have struggled with my hair for years. Every time I think I have it figured out, I find a new way to do it better. This year I was introduced to an amazing hair oil that keeps the frizz completely at bay! I have naturally curly hair, and I finally love wearing it natural.
eight | fabfitfun
I wish this were sponsored, but I really just love my FabFitFun box. It’s an amazing deal, and it’s like a present to myself for surviving another quarter. 2020 was the perfect year to invest in that treat.
nine | health and fitness
Fitness has always been an integral part of my routine for my mental health, but I’m really proud of myself for keeping it up during quarantine.
ten | living in a city i love
I fall more and more in love with Nashville every day.
eleven | my boyfriend
While we had been friends for a few years, my boyfriend and I started dating this year. It’s been so nice to have him as support throughout this whole year.
twelve | my innate curiosity
I’ve kept the boredom at bay this quarantine season by questioning and researching everything.
thirteen | books
Of course I’m thankful for books! I’ve read more in this year than ever before, and I’m so grateful my form of self-care is reading.
fourteen | i gained more experience in serving on non-profit boards
I currently serve on two non-profit boards in Nashville, and I’ve learned so much from each experience. I’m appreciative to every person that has taken a chance on me to get me to where I am today.
fifteen | the storyteller app
I discovered the Storyteller App by Morgan Harper Nichols this year, and it’s the brightest moment of my mornings.
sixteen | journaling
I use the Storyteller App to journal in the morning, and I cherish those moments of self-reflection before I start the day.
seventeen | i discovered new brands i love
I’ve been leaning into getting everything delivered to me. From Care/Of vitamins to Blue Apron meals and Curology skincare, everything can come straight to your door in 2020, and I am embracing it.
eighteen | picking up new hobbies
I started to learn how to crochet this year, and with winter coming, I’m excited to pick it up again and keep learning.
nineteen | being surrounded by amazing, inspirational people
So many people around me have started businesses or taken leaps of faith in pursuing their passions this year, and I am inspired by everyone making their dreams come true. I’m thankful to be surrounded by people who reach for the stars and encourage me to do the same.
twenty | me!
I am so strong. I’ve had a lot of support over this last year, but I wouldn’t have been able to get through it if I didn’t believe in myself every step of the way.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Kimberly
