Top 5 Wednesday: Thanksgiving Round 2

Top 5 Wednesday

As the trend continues, this weeks topic was to talk about the books you’re thankful for. Since I already did that, I’m going to talk about why I’m thankful to have books and reading in my life.

1. Books help pass the time.
Whenever I need to kill five minutes, I pull out a book. My one rule when going shopping for purses is that it must be big enough to hold a a good book in it. Waiting in line at the grocery store? Going to the bathroom? Hiding out from a party that wasn’t as great as you thought it would be? Your book will always be there for you to kill the time.

2. Books remind me that I’m not alone.
No matter what situation I’m in, there’s a book for it. And it always has a magical way of finding me just when I need it.

3. Books expand my imagination.
Anything is possible in a book, and it reminds me that (almost) anything is possible if I put my mind to it.

4. Books challenge me in ways people never could.
They challenge me to think outside the box, to think about myself in ways I never would have thought about myself before. They challenge me to questions events that happen in life, and analyze what’s happening in my life now. They encourage me to question everything and to never take no for an answer. Kind of similar to reason #3, but books challenge me and encourage me and push me in al realms of my life.

5. Books are my escape when I feel like I really can’t handle life anymore.
Books have probably saved my life more times than I can count. They have this amazing way of being there for you and providing you with an escape in a way your friends and family just can’t. They always know what you need, and magically find of a way of getting into your heart and mind that just isn’t possible for those closest to you in your life.
