Catching My Eye,  Personal

Catching My Eye | 01.08.21

How’s everyone doing? There’s no denying that this was a tough week. I am once again saddened to my core about the current events in this nation. I can’t put into words what I am feeling, though words should be the one thing I have. I want to give everyone a giant group hug right now. I hope everyone can take a moment this weekend to hug their loved ones a little tighter and decompress from this sad event. Let’s get into what’s been catching my eye this week…

one | a breakdown of what happened at the capitol on Wednesday
If you somehow missed the news, here’s what happened at the Capitol on Wednesday after a pro-Trump rally. It’s viscerally upsetting, so please, proceed with caution.

two | this magic cookie recipe creator
Is anyone’s 2021 resolution to make the perfect cookie? Do you want to forget about the madness for just 45 minutes? Then, you have to check out this magic cookie recipe creator.

three | headbands
I’m late to the game, but headbands are definitely my favorite trend of 2020, and I hope they stick around in 2021. I just bought this one from Target because I’ve been wearing my J.Crew one every day this week.

four | some anticipated books of 2021
When we can’t handle the present day, what do we do? We escape into books! Here are a few interesting books to take note of coming out in 2021.

five | this educational anti-racist read that a lot of people apparently still need to pick up
I read Layla F. Saad’s Me and White Supremacy in September, and it opened my mind to so many racist thoughts, actions and microaggressions we partake in as a community and as individuals toward Black people and People of Color. Saad’s book is part educational read, part workbook. Every section has reflection questions to help you dig into the ways you think and act that are racist. I learned so much from this book, and after recent events, I think some people have some reading to do.

Happy adventuring,
Kimberly
