I can’t believe this year is almost over! It truly feels like 2015 flew by in the wink of an eye. But that just means I have a whole new year coming up with fun and exciting things to do! (And fun and exciting books to read!) This weeks Top 5 Wednesday is dedicated to the best books I read in 2015.(I did a Top 10 Tuesday a couple of weeks ago. Check it out! ) Here we go!
1. Yes Please by Amy Poehler
By far one of the best books I’ve ever read. I recommend it to anyone that will listen to me and should probably read it again just because I liked it so much the first time. It’s just Amy Poehler talking about her life, but she’s so sassy and true, anyone going through anything is lucky to have her by your side (at least lucky to have her book).
2. Divergent by Veronica Roth
The best series I decided to read in 2015. My friend bought me the first book for my birthday and I tore through it in like three days. Tris’s story is captivating and as a reader, you can’t wait to find out what happens in this dystopian world as it crumbles around the main characters.
3. Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
This is the best book someone recommended to me in 2015. Ryan (your favorite guest author) read it before me and actually loaned me his copy. It’s a truly magical tale about my favorite thing — books. Clay and Mr. Penumbra go on a voyage that will stick with them, and you, through their lifetimes.
4. All the Bright Places by Caitlin Niven
The absolute best Young Adult book I picked up in 2015 has to be “All the Bright Places”. It follows two teenagers who met on a rooftop through the development of their relationship and leaves readers speechless (and probably in tears if you’re anything like me) as you find out how one person really does have the ability to flip your world upside down.
5. Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut
And finally, the best science fiction book I read this year is definitely “Sirens of Titan”, which I just finished a couple of weeks ago. Vonnegut always manages to create these intricate world’s with intertwined stories that impressively come together in the end. I’m always left with my mind turning after finishing his novels.
