It’s been a hot minute since we’ve chatted, but I’m BACK! I didn’t mean to take a two month hiatus, and I’m a little sorry about it, but it was the time I needed to figure out everything going on in my life. First of all, I can’t believe it’s already May (in two days). 2019 has been such a rollercoaster for me in the best and worst ways possible. Let me give a little wrap of where I’ve been these last few months and what I’ve been doing with my time.
Losing My Favorite Person
Some of you know, and some of you don’t, but my family said goodbye to someone very special this year. My grandmother passed away on February 25, 2019, and she’s missed more than she will ever know. I’m very, very grateful that I got to spend so much time with her over the holidays this year, and even more grateful that I was able to go home one last time to see her and say goodbye. She was the most amazing woman, and her compassion and capacity to love inspire me everyday. She had a charming wit and hilarious sense of humor that I will always remember for years to come. I wrote a post about her last year for her birthday, so if you’d like to know about the many wonderful pearls of wisdom she gave me throughout her 93 years on this year, give it a read.
Investing In My Passions
I’ve been taking a lot of time lately to read. Despite the fact that this blog is dedicated to reading, it actually takes away a lot of the time I normally would have devoted to opening a book. In the last two months, I’ve been able to read more and invest in other passions. I went and saw a Broadway musical at our theater in Nashville, I promoted a massive event for an organization I’m a part of on social media, and I spent a ton of time with friends. I threw myself into other things that I don’t typically get to take part of since a lot of my weekends and free time are dedicated to blogging. So yeah, I’ve been doing other things, figuring out what I really want to be spending my time on, and that’s okay. Ultimately, I decided that blogging and writing is a passion I want to pursue wholeheartedly.
Saying “Yes” To Life
I’ve been saying “yes” to a lot more opportunities in life lately. But not yes to everything. I was having that discussion with a friend the other day – it’s important to say yes to things, but the things that excite you or push you to be a better person. Say “yes” to opportunities that will advance your career. Say “yes” to spending time with people you care about. Say “yes” to taking chances. So, I’ve been saying “yes” a lot, and it’s made life a whole lot more exciting.
Why I’m Coming Back to Blogging
Ultimately, even though my time away from the blog was a good thing (a much needed break), I came back. Writing is a true passion for me. Sharing amazing books and critically reading is important to me, and I want to be able to share that. I also want to be able to write. Writing is something I don’t get to do a ton of on a day-to-day basis, so to be able to practice that skill is crucial to my happiness and will allow me to advance in my career. I’m happy to be blogging again. I’m happy to be throwing myself into a passion and focusing on making myself a better me because, to me, that’s what life’s all about.
So, here’s my mini-apology for dropping off the radar, and a promise to see you again Wednesday!
