Happy Friday!

This week simultaneously felt like the longest and shortest week of my life.

Last weekend was such a blast! I celebrated my brother’s birthday with him and a bunch of friends before he jetted home for the weekend, and I attended a gala-type event for an organization I’m a part of in Nashville. It was carnival themed, and I truly had a blast dancing the night away with friends. Despite the fun-filled weekend, I was feeling really anxious earlier in the week, so it felt like the days were dragging. I tried to brush aside my feelings with wine nights and tacos, but I think I’m just going to have to sit with this feeling for a little bit — and that’s okay.

I’m flying home this weekend to spend some time with my family, and it is much needed. But until then, this is what’s been catching my eye this week. Let’s get started!

1. Wellness Routines
I’m loving this series by Refinery 29. It takes you through someone’s entire day and breaks down the cost of that day. If you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of obsessed with budgeting, so seeing someone’s expenses broken down by day was really eye-opening for me. It’s also interesting to see what everyone can fit into their crazy schedules! It definitely made me think about how I could fit some more stuff into my day if I really tried.

2. Ethical Fashion
I feel like one of my overall goals of 2019 is to make smarter choices — for the environment, for my skin, for animals, for everything. And ethical fashion definitely ties into that. Since I’m trying to minimize my wardrobe, and possible make a capsule wardrobe, I’m thinking of slowly collecting clothing items from ethical fashion lines and I love this list from Jess Ann Kirby. Everlane is a brand I’ve been wanting to dry for forever.

3. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
I’m currently reading Outlander because reading three books at one time isn’t enough. I talked about how I’m not really invested in the book yet on my Instagram, but everyone told me I need to stick it out. Since I’m flying this weekend, I’m hoping to get a good chunk of the way into this hefty book, but if you have opinions, let me know in the comments below!

4. Scheduling Free Time
This was quite the eye-opener for me. As a chronic scheduler, this article from the Washington Post got me thinking about my general approach to life. The article talks about how people that don’t strictly schedule their time are happier because they approach free time more happily — if you schedule your free time, it feels like a chore that you have to cross of your to-do list. I am purely motivated by my to-do list, but this has got me thinking that I should maybe try to change my approach, at least a little bit.

5. thank u, next
This album has been on repeat for the last week, and I can’t stop listening. Everything about this album is perfect to me. Don’t get me wrong, some of the messages aren’t that great (please don’t break up with your girlfriend because someone is bored), but if you need to amp yourself up, I highly recommend it. I think my favorite song is NASA or needy.

Happy adventuring,
Kimberly
