Boy was this a short week! Typically, short weeks feel longer than normal weeks, but not this one! It felt like Friday before I could even blink. After a relaxing weekend at the beach with friends, I actually took this week pretty easy as well. I had a meeting on Wednesday and a networking event on Thursday, but I’m taking tonight off since I have a friend coming into town tomorrow for the Jonas Brothers concert on Tuesday. I’m excited to get to show her around Nashville after living here for a bit longer. Let’s get into what’s been catching my eye this week…

1. This explainer on the Hong Kong protests
I try my best to keep up with the news, but sometimes I need a little more background information on an issue, and this article from Vox about the protests in Hong Kong was the perfect explainer. If you’re interested in learning more about what’s going on, give it a read.

2. This tie-neck J. Crew blouse
I may have found the perfect work blouse for myself. I’ve been striving to find a work uniform to make my mornings a little bit easier, and I think this blouse fits the bill. I bought the cheetah print a few weeks ago, and I’ve been wearing it constantly, so it may be time to invest in a few of the more neutral options.

3. This unique twist on a morning habit
We all know looking at our phones first thing in the morning isn’t the best for us, but actually avoiding it is a whole other thing. If you’re like me, you use your phone as your alarm, so you automatically look at your phone without even thinking about it. I like the way Amelia talked about being intentional about staying off your phone in the morning and the difference it can make in your day.

4. This guide to recycling electronics and home goods
Truth be told, I could be way better about my recycling habits. My roommate is very conscious of her plastic consumption and recycling, so I hope she will rub off on me, but I definitely need to take matters into my own hands as well. This article was really helpful in talking about recycling outside of the norm (plastic, paper, glass).

5. This book about the proximity principle
I went to a talk with the author of The Proximity Principle last week, and it was really informative. Coleman is the host of a nationally syndicated radio show that helps people understand what they were born to do. His book is an extension of that show talking about how you can get to a career you love. I got a signed copy for free at the event, and I can’t wait to read it.

Happy adventuring,
Kimberly
