Hi there! Happy 2020! I know I’ve been gone for a while, but I’m back. For now. I’m not sure how long I’ll be back, but I know I’m at my best when I’m writing regularly, and blogging is a great way to hold myself accountable, so for now, I’m back. The last few months of 2019 were a great treat. I turned 25 at the end of November, celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas with my family in Nashville, and reigned in the new year with some of my favorite people by my side. I’m excited to see what 2020 brings! I know some people hate new year’s resolutions, but I think the…
2020 TBR List
I know I’m being a bit aspirational, but I’ve compiled a list of 36 books I want to read in 2020. I know I won’t read them all, but I wanted to be more intentional about the books I’m picking up in this new year. I’ve broken it out into classics, non-fiction, and freebies. Let’s get started… Classics 1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë 2. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller 3. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas 4. A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens 5. Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson 6. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde 7. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott…
Top 12 Books I Read In 2019
I read a lot of amazing books in 2019. I didn’t hit my goal of 50, but I made it pretty darn close (42 books, done and dusted)! Here are my top 12 reads from the last year. Let’s get started… Image from Amazon 1. The Martian by Andy Weir I read this book super quickly for a book club back in January, and I ended up loving it so much more than I anticipated. The Martian is set on Mars and follows Mark Watney as he attempts to survive on Mars alone for over a year. After his mission was botched and the rest of his team left, Watney is left…
The Southern Festival of Books
This past weekend Humanities Tennessee hosted the 31st annual Southern Festival of Books in Nashville. The festival featured around 50 booths of independent booksellers, book stores, writing workshops, writing societies, and more. In addition to the booths, there were sessions upon sessions throughout the three days that featured authors from across the spectrum of writing. I spent almost my entire day on Saturday at the festival, and it was heaven to me. I started with a session called “Coffee with Authors” which featured Alexi Zentner, author of Copperhead; Anissa Gray, author of The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls; Karen Thompson Walker, author of The Dreamers; and Taylor Jenkins Read, author of Daisy Jones &…

And just like that, another week has come and gone! Except this week was super special for me because it marked my last week at my job. I’d been at my job for just over a year, and it was a truly wonderful experience that taught me so much. I’m leaving to be an account executive at a start-up public relations firm in Nashville, and nothing could make me happier. When I looked into moving to Nashville about three years ago, it was because I wanted to work at a PR firm in the city. And to finally be able to tell people that I am doing that, well, it’s…
September Reading Wrap Up 2019
Happy October! It’s finally starting to feel a little bit like fall here in Nashville, and I am SO ready for sweaters season. I bought a few new pieces from Target over the weekend, and I can’t wait to wear them this season. September was a pretty good month of reading with four books under my belt. I absolutely loved one book and really didn’t enjoy another, so it was a pretty balanced month of reading. Let’s get into my September reading wrap up! Image from Amazon 1. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas Throne of Glass is a story about a young assassin who must compete to become the King’s…
My Ideal Morning Routine
Confession time: I’ve been off my A-game for quite some time now, but I am ready to get back into it. I don’t know what happened, but I have not been able to get out of bed lately! I used to be really good about waking up early and getting in a workout and reading time before work, but lately I’ve been rolling out of bed at 6:30 with barely enough time to pack my lunch. I thought it would be a good idea for me to share what my ideal morning routine would be to help me get back in my groove. Let’s get started! I have to…

Does anyone else feel like this week lasted for forever? I had a lot of ups and downs, so I feel like by the end of every day I was so emotionally drained that I needed to sleep for 10 hours (and I was lucky if I got six). With everything going on this week, it got me thinking about happiness. Happiness is such a weird thing to describe to someone, but to me, happiness is freedom – freedom to enjoy a moment, freedom to think about something other than your most pressing problem, freedom to make your own choices. I think by now, we all know that happiness is…
Educated: A Review
Educated is the story of what happens when you have nothing to rely on but yourself, a book, and some very willing loved ones to get you out of a tough situation. Tara Westover was raised in a strict Mormon household in the mountains of Idaho. In addition to being conservative, traditional parents, Tara’s parents were also survivalists. Tara, along with her six other siblings, was homeschooled for the majority of her life, worked either in the junkyard with their father or in the kitchen putting together homeopathic remedies with her mother, and was always prepared for the second-coming. At 17, Tara was convinced by her older brother, Tyler, to leave…
Fall TBR List
I think it’s finally starting to feel like fall here in Nashville, and I could not be more excited. This summer has been nothing short of amazing, but I’m ready for cooler days and for it to be more acceptable for me to stay at home and read on the weekends. Fall is the perfect time to read some creepy thrillers, magical mysteries, and cozy love stories. Let’s get into my fall TBR list… Image from Amazon 1. It by Stephen King I’ve been trying to finish this book since last year. It’s such a monster of a book, but I’ve really enjoyed it so far. I hope to finish it this year around…
