    Top 10 Tuesday: Auto-Buy Authors

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. This weeks designated topic is “auto-buy authors”. This refers to authors whose books you will buy no matter what. Personally, this is just too similar to the previous week for me (I’m not drawn to authors for some reason), so I’m going to list my Top 10 authors I want to read this upcoming school year. 1. Diana Gabaldon I’ve heard so many great things about “Outlander”. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. 2. George R.…

    Treasure Tuesday

I am currently reading “Identical” by Scott Turow. 2. My roommate moves in this week, which means school starts super soon. Look out for a post on sneaky ways to keep reading for pleasure during the school year. 3.  4. I’m sure we can all relate to these struggles posted by Buzzfeed about having friends that don’t read. I can especially relate to #8. 5. My “Question of the Day” today is, “What is your favorite piece of clothing?” and I might have to go with my, “I like books more than people t-shirt” that I got from lookhuman. Happy reading, Kimberly

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

Title: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl Author: Jesse Andrews Genre: Young Adult Fiction Quotation: “When you convert a good book to a film. stupid things happen.” Would recommend to: anyone interested in coming up with ideas. “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” doesn’t seem like such a great book. Maybe you pick it up and think it will be funny, or heartwarming, or…something. You don’t know what it is you’re hoping for, but you pick it up anyways, without knowing what to expect. I read this book on my plane ride to New Jersey. It was a great plane read because it’s not too heavy (surprisingly) and it’s…

The Best Time to Buy a Book is All the Time

So I’ve done some shopping…I’m not proud of my addiction, but I understand it’s better than most. This is an extremely collective haul of books, some that I received as gifts and some that were free and some that were fewer than five dollars. So without further ado, let’s see what I’ve bought lately. Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy Along with this book, I picked up a little bookmark that says “Eat.Sleep.Read.” The perfect mantra for me. It’s a book about a girl who thinks she’s going to die from cancer, so she confesses all these truths to people. She ends up surviving her ailment and is left…

    Top 5 Wednesday: Required Reading

This week is all about that dreaded required reading for school, and with classes starting soon, this is a very fitting topic. As a kid I loved to read, and as you can tell, not much as changed. But reading for my classes always seemed to be the worst thing I could have imagined. Of course I had some pretty bad experiences with required reading (ahem, “Romeo and Juliet” —it’s not a love story people!), but I also discovered amazing stories I never would have otherwise read. So here we go… 1. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee I read this freshman year of high school, and it was the…

Top 10 Tuesday: Popular Authors on My Bookshelf

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. This week is highlighting the authors you’ve read the most books from. I’m not usually a repeat-author offender (I get bored because their plot lines are usually the same), but I’ve read a lot of series, and I’ve made a few exceptions… 1. Sarah Dessen I’ve read Dessen’s books since high school simply because they are easy beach reads that I really connected with, especially when I was younger. They follow my belief that author’s rarely deviate…

    Treasure Tuesday

I am still working on “War of the Worlds” because I book-cheated last week and read “The Last Song” while I was at the beach. 2. Here’s a list of underrated books from Buzzfeed. I’ve read a couple of them, and they are truly amazing. I can’t wait to add more to my reading list. 3.  4. I am working on a book haul for you that should be up sometime this week! 5. School is starting and that means more required reading! But still, try and make time for some fun reading now and then — it changes everything. Happy reading, Kimberly

    There’s No Place Like Oz

Title: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Author: Frank L. Baum Genre: Fiction Quotation: “True courage is facing danger when you are afraid.” Would recommend to: those who love adventure combined with a classic story.  There’s nothing like watching “The Wizard of Oz” on a rainy Saturday curled up in bed…except maybe reading it. I instantly fell in love with “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by Frank L. Baum when I read it (I’ve even given it as a gift to a couple of people). The movie terrified me as a child (flying monkeys! Who thought that was a good idea?) But the book — the book was just perfect. I’m…

    Top 10 Tuesday: Fairy Tales

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. This week is all about fairy tales or their re-tellings that we want to read or have read. Let’s dive right in… 1. The Grimms’ Fairy Tales My brother bought these for me a couple Christmas’s ago. I haven’t had the chance to dig into them, but I’m excited to read them this Christmas when I am home. 2. Wicked Not technically a fairy tale retelling, but I love “The Wizard of Oz” and you know I…
