    June Favorites

Another month has come and gone, and I think June was one of my favorite months so far this year (and that’s saying something). I met some new friends, made some new memories, and got to visit old friends as well. Something I’ve really been loving is reflecting on my months in my bullet journal, and I know I’ll have a lot to say about June. I’ve been loving a lot of things this month, but I whittled it down to my top five. Let’s get started! 1. Skincare I’ve always loved makeup, but a part of me has always cried at having to shell out money for skincare. I…

    Summer Playlist

Summertime is finally here! It honestly feels like I was just thanking the heavens that it was spring, but spring sprang right into summer here in Tennessee. With a new season, of course comes a new summer playlist. I’ve been listening to a lot more podcasts lately, but I’ve got a road trip coming up that will be the perfect time to blast some tunes. I also love listening to some pump-up jams when I’m having a bad day or in a low mood. Since I always listen on shuffle (and usually skip until the song I want to hear comes on) this playlist has no particular order. It’s also…

    June Bullet Journal Setup

I talked about how much I loved bullet journaling in my last favorites post, and I’ve got to tell you, the love just keeps growing (it’s definitely hit its peak with this June bullet journal set up). As I take more time to set up my spreads and actually utilize my bullet journal to improve my life and productivity, I fall more and more in love with it. My favorite thing about bullet journaling is that I get to decide how to use my planner — there are no rules. A lot of people think a bullet journal needs to look a certain way, but that really isn’t true. For…

    April Favorites

April was a bit of a wacky month for me. My friend from Germany visited at the end of March, which threw my first week of April off balance since I didn’t prep for the week like normal. And then, in the middle of April, I went to Virginia for a weekend, which threw me off again for an entire week. Even though it was a bit wonky, I made some amazing memories with old and new friends, and found some new things to love. Let’s get started with my April favorites! 1. Dresses with Jean Jackets I’m the queen of wearing a self-imposed uniform, and I can already tell…

    The Key to Life: Balance

“Some nights you drink tea, some nights you drink whiskey.” – Atticus You might have noticed that I’ve undertaken a lot of monthly challenges lately. I’m constantly pushing my limits to be the best version of myself. I try new things, cut negative habits out of my life, and try to make time for what is important. Amid all the slashing and replacing and changing,  I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that balance is the key to a happy life. Deep down, I think we all know that. It sounds so simple. Balance. It’s something we are told from an early age — balance, balance, balance. Despite the…

A Guide to Nashville: 72 Hours on a Budget

With one final click, you’ve got your ticket booked to Music City. You’re ready to head down to Broadway and hit all the Honky Tonks, drink bottomless mimosas, and learn all about country music. Or are you? There’s more to Nashville than what initially meets the eye. While it’s great to connect with your country roots and drink a mimosa or two, I’ve got a guide for you that touches on some of the free/inexpensive things to do in Nashville you might not think about upon first booking your trip. This post was inspired by a friend coming into town for a long weekend. It’s partly a chronicle of her…

    An Introduction to Yoga

I’ve gone off and on workout kicks since I was about ten years old. Ten years old. It’s embarrassing to admit that I have been aware of my body weight since elementary school, but it’s the truth. I remember doing endless crunches and training for running the mile in gym class (I wasn’t the most athletic child, and I was really self-conscious about it). It’s sad that not only my young adulthood, but also my “carefree” kid years were riddled with body image issues. But that’s how it was. I’m not going to say I don’t still struggle with my body image, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve developed healthier…

    I Cut Out Carbs for a Month…

…and here’s what happened. If you know me at all, you’re probably shocked to your core that I cut carbs out of my diet for an entire month. I’m the queen of pasta and garlic bread (there’s an adorably embarrassing story about Olive Garden breadsticks and a very confused waitress from 2014 that my friends still don’t let me live down), but somehow I managed to go an entire month without both. And it’s all because of Tori. In November, my brother and his girlfriend (Tori, I’ve mentioned both of them lots on the blog since they also live in Nashville) announced that they were going to be cutting out…

    How To Create Healthy Habits

I hate to be that person, but I’ve been pretty good about sticking to my new year’s resolutions and kicking butt in 2018. The other morning, my roommate came downstairs and caught me reading my book and drinking tea before work and she begged me to just have one unhealthy habit (trust me, I have plenty including an unhealthy relationship with sweets and a bad habit of napping when I have 10,000 things to do), which got me to thinking about how I developed my current healthy habits that I try to practice every day. I’ve talked about wanting to create habits before in my New Year, New Resolutions post, but…
