Top 5 Wednesday: Reading by the Fire

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! That means curling up next to the fire (whether it be real or digital) with the best books and passing the time in the only acceptable way before the craziness of the holidays. This week is dedicated to those books that are perfect for reading on a cold, winter day. 1. The Favorite This is the most acceptable time to pick up that book people are always surprised you are re-reading. It’s your favorite. The one with the dog-eared pages, crinkled spine, and well-worn cover. You’ve read it so many times, you know it by heart. Yet you still love it and…

    Top 10 Tuesday: Thanksgiving

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. This week I am dedicating my post to the books and authors I am thankful to have in my life. 1. The Harry Potter Series (of course!) Thank you for spurring my love of reading and showing me what true friendships should be. 2. George Orwell Thank you for writing stories that matter and reminding people that words can pack a powerful punch. 3. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn Thank you for showing me that a little crazy can…

    Treasure Tuesday

I am currently (finally) reading “All the Bright Places” by Jennifer Niven. 2.  3. Here’s a list of young adult novels brought to you by the one and only Buzzfeed. It promises to diversify your bookshelf. I’ll definitely be adding these to my list! 4. My roommate showed me this awesome post about gifts for grammar nerds. Check it out. I’ll definitely be asking for #1 for my birthday. 5.  I really want this coloring book! Happy reading, Kimberly

Top 10 Tuesday: Scary Reads for Halloween

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. Halloween is coming up, and we all know what that means! Breaking out your favorite Halloween read to get you in the mood for the holiday. Here’s my top 10 list of scary books for the season. 1. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn This is one of the creepier books I have read in my adult life. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire read, and even though it’s not specifically a Halloween book,…

    Treasure Tuesday

I am currently reading “Subliminal” by Leonard Mlodinow. 2. Over fall break, I went to Bald Head Island with two of my roommates. I had an amazing time paddle-boarding and riding bikes all over the island. 3.  4. Check out the longest domino chain made out of books. It was made in Seattle in 2013, and it’s really amazing! 5. Ever wondered if you would survive the Chamber of Secrets? Well, thanks to Buzzfeed, now you can find out. Apparently I would have barely made it out alive if it weren’t for my friends. Let me know what you get in the comments below. Happy reading, Kimberly

Top 5 Wednesday: Kimberly Goes Rouge

So here’s the thing… I didn’t really like this weeks topic (favorite graphic novels), so I decided to go with my own. This week I will talk about my favorite movies that are also books. 1. Mazerunner I loved this movie, but guess what…I hated the book. I read it as an adult after seeing the movie, and Dylan O’Brien just doesn’t transfer onto paper. The writing wasn’t that well done to me and it seemed like it was written for a much younger audience. But I love the plot line and really recommend that older readers watch the movie rather than read the book. (This is probably the only time I will ever…

Top 10 Tuesday: Bookish Things I Have QUIT

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. Today I’m going to explore all things bookish that I want to quit. This will include series I have quit, authors I have quit, habits I have quit, and everything bookish in between. I apologize now for the random assortment of thoughts this post will be. 1. James Patterson This may be unpopular, but I really don’t like James Patterson. I read his “Witch and Wizard” series when I was in middle school, and even then I…

    Treasure Tuesday

I am currently powering through “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” 2.  3. I got 12 hours of sleep last night, and if that didn’t brighten my Tuesday, I don’t know what would. 4. Look at this fantastic map a 17-year-old created of how literature has evolved over the years and where certain themes and styles originated. AMAZING. 5. Please leave any suggestions for me to read down below. I’d love to read some of your favorites! Happy reading, Kimberly

    Top 10 Tuesday: Book Quotes

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. This week we got to pick whatever topic we wanted to cover! I’m a huge fan of quotations (I have a whole list in my phone that I add to whenever I’m reading), so here’s a compilation of some of my favorites. 1. Christopher Robin “You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” I have this hanging across from my bed on a canvas I made myself to remind myself…

Top 10 Tuesday: Characters I Just Didn't Click With

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. This week is dedicated to the characters we just didn’t click with from the beginning. 1. Four- Divergent I’m almost really sorry about this one — but I just didn’t like Four that much, especially when we were thrown inside his head. I liked him enough in the first two books, but I didn’t like him enough to see the story from his point of view. I felt the different viewpoints made the reader feel disconnected from…
