    Top 5 Evergreen Children's Books

One of my favorite things about reading is being able to escape into a world that isn’t my own. An added positive is to learn something new or gain a new perspective on life while flipping the pages. That’s where children’s books come in. Before you angrily close your window at my suggestion to read a children’s book in your early adulthood, hear me out. Children’s books teach important lessons about friendship, family, learning, and pursuing your dreams — lessons that are applicable at any age.  I’ve got a list of five children’s books I think are evergreen and can be learned from at any stage in life. Let’s get…

A Guide to Nashville: 72 Hours on a Budget

With one final click, you’ve got your ticket booked to Music City. You’re ready to head down to Broadway and hit all the Honky Tonks, drink bottomless mimosas, and learn all about country music. Or are you? There’s more to Nashville than what initially meets the eye. While it’s great to connect with your country roots and drink a mimosa or two, I’ve got a guide for you that touches on some of the free/inexpensive things to do in Nashville you might not think about upon first booking your trip. This post was inspired by a friend coming into town for a long weekend. It’s partly a chronicle of her…

    Pumping the Brakes

You may be wondering why you aren’t reading this blog post on a whole new website with a brand new blog name. I’m sorry, but I’ve got your answer right here: I decided to wait. Launching a new blog requires a million tiny little tasks to get done behind the scenes, and I had way too much going on this weekend to dedicate any additional time to a blog relaunch. So, I decided to wait. I decided to take my time and get it right rather than rush through the process and fix all the little things after I launched. And I thought that was an important lesson to discuss…

5 Books to Read this Spring

Spring has finally sprung! With spring officially having started on March 20, I’m still waiting for it to feel like spring in Nashville. With the promise of 65 degree weather for the coming weekend, my hopes are high. I can’t wait to pop open a new book on my deck and enjoy the breeze while flipping pages. I’ve compiled a list of books that came out in March or are going to be released in April that I think will make fantastic spring reads. Let’s get started! The Girl on the Train Was Right

Reminiscent of books like “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn, Paula Hawkins takes mystery to a whole new level in her thriller “The Girl on The Train.” Hawkins, a British author who began her career as a business journalist, writes her story from the perspectives of three women in relation to a man named Tom; Rachel, the alcoholic ex-wife; Anna, the seemingly perfect replacement wife and mother; and Megan, the dead mistress with a big secret. When you pick up “The Girl on the Train,” you might be looking for just another thriller, but you’re going to get much more than you bargained for. While the married mistress showing up dead…

    Big Changes Are Coming…

“From Narnia to Neverland” has existed since March 2015. It’s three years old, and it’s gone through a lot. What started as a class project has turned into a true passion for me. I love having a creative outlet that I control completely. I love having a place that’s just mine to post whatever I want. I get to design it and play with it and make it my own — and it’s awesome. I relaunched my blog after a year hiatus in August 2017, and I’ve been posting almost twice a week the entire time (even with a hurricane, moving, traveling, and a ton of life changes in between).…

    An Introduction to Yoga

I’ve gone off and on workout kicks since I was about ten years old. Ten years old. It’s embarrassing to admit that I have been aware of my body weight since elementary school, but it’s the truth. I remember doing endless crunches and training for running the mile in gym class (I wasn’t the most athletic child, and I was really self-conscious about it). It’s sad that not only my young adulthood, but also my “carefree” kid years were riddled with body image issues. But that’s how it was. I’m not going to say I don’t still struggle with my body image, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve developed healthier…

Top 10 Lessons I Learned in College

Happy Elon Day! I graduated in May 2017 from Elon University in Elon, North Carolina. It’s a small(ish), liberal arts school that educates the northeast on southern charm (it’s got a lot of kids from Connecticut and New Jersey who like frats and country music). Every March we celebrate Elon Day — a day dedicated to fundraising and donating, but also focused on appreciating a fantastic university and the opportunities it affords its students. Even though I’m officially a real world freshman, I still wanted to celebrate, and of course, that involves a blog post highlighting the top ten lessons I took with me from university. Let’s get started! 1.…

Top 5 Daunting Books to Read in 2018

Do you ever find yourself shying away from books that seem like they’ll take up way too much of your time? No…? Just me? Well, that’s okay. Personally, I get a little book-shy when I know I’m going to have to commit a lot of time to one book (I have commitment issues, are we surprised?). I’m worried it’s going to derail me from my overall  reading goals even though I know the read will be totally worth it. I’m trying to face that fear, and I’ve given myself the task of tackling these five daunting books in 2018 that have lived on my shelf for far too long. Let’s…
