Top 5 Books To Give Dad for Father’s Day

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate Dad than by giving him an adventure of a lifetime. I truly think there is nothing better than giving a book as a gift. Today I’ve got five books you can give your dad for Father’s Day that are sure to make him feel special. Let’s get started! Image from Amazon 1. “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien What better book to give Dad than a classic adventure tale? “The Hobbit” is one of my favorite books because of the simple joy it encapsulates. Bilbo, a hobbit who has never know fun and friendship, is invited to go…

    May Reading Wrap Up

May was a fantastic month of reading for me! While I didn’t read everything on my list (“All The Light We Cannot See” got bumped to my June TBR), I did read four books from my May TBR and a couple that I didn’t anticipate reading. For the most part, I enjoyed everything I picked up this month, and I’m happy to be knocking a few books off my shelf that have been waiting to be read for years. Here’s a little mini-review of everything I read last month in a little May reading wrap up. Let’s get started! Image from Goodreads 1. “Trigger Warning” by Neil Gaiman “Trigger Warning”…

Justice, Redemption, and Finding Inner Peace

“Picking Cotton: Our Memoir of Injustice and Redemption” features a sleepy little town in North Carolina where nine months out of the year it is bustling with college life and the other three months people are sweating in the Carolina heat. Burlington, North Carolina, I can say from experience, doesn’t have much going on. There’s a wide divide between the rich and the poor (still) and a lot of economic activity results from the university in the small town of Elon. I first put “Picking Cotton” on my TBR when I read about it in another book, “Subliminal.” When “Picking Cotton” was mentioned, it was discussing how sometimes eyewitness accounts are…

    June TBR List

Happy almost June! It feels like I’m jumping the gun since there are still 9 days until the end of the month, but I’m already excited about the books I’m going to be flipping through in the next month. The first time I made a TBR list for myself was last month, and I’ve got to say I was a lot more motivated to read knowing I wanted to finish certain books in the month. I haven’t finished them all yet, but it was the best month for reading I have had in a while. Let’s jump into my June TBR list! Image from Goodreads 1. “A Darker Shade of…

    Top 7 Summer Books

A part of me feels like I was just anticipating warm, spring days, but now, I’m in full on summer mode. Transitional seasons only last for a couple days, which is highly disappointing since they seem to be everyone’s favorite, but I’ve learned to accept it and jump on board for whatever season Nashville decides to be. I wanted to do a post dedicated to the books I think encompass that summer feeling. Books you can read on the beach or curled up in blankets on the couch. Summer is the perfect time to read no matter the setting that’s most comfortable to you. Let’s get started. Image from Amazon…

Top 5 Books to Give Mom for Mother’s Day

Guys, I’ve seriously thought this coming weekend was Mother’s Day on two separate occasions and was thrown into a tizzy both times trying to find a gift and mail it. Alas, you’ve still got a week, so if you’re looking for the perfect gift, look no further than a book. My family knows that come every holiday and birthday, they are probably getting a book from me. I can’t help myself. Reading is an addiction, and I love sharing my favorites. If you’re mom is anything like my mom, she probably deserves a tropical vacation to her dream destination, and if you’re anything like me, you can probably afford half…

The Art of Being an Introvert

I am a female. I am a young adult. I am a college graduate. I am a Florida native. I am a cat person. I am a sister. I am a bibliophile. I am a perfectionist. I am a Sagittarius. I am an introvert. It might sound weird, but being an introvert is a huge part of my identity. And surprisingly enough, it’s a part that I have struggled with for years. One third of people in the world are introverts. Or, at least that’s what this Forbes article says. To be honest, I couldn’t find any clear statistics on how much of our world is made up of introverts,…

    May TBR

I have recently fallen into the world of Booktube, and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t loved every minute of it. Some of my favorite videos to watch are TBR (to be read) lists, and I’ve been inspired to start creating monthly (possibly seasonally) TBR lists myself. I think this will be a fantastic way to read the books that have been on my list (and shelves) for years without blindly reaching for a new book after I’ve finished what I’m currently reading. Let’s get started! Image from Goodreads 1. “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr My mom gave me this book over the summer…

    Top 5 Evergreen Children's Books

One of my favorite things about reading is being able to escape into a world that isn’t my own. An added positive is to learn something new or gain a new perspective on life while flipping the pages. That’s where children’s books come in. Before you angrily close your window at my suggestion to read a children’s book in your early adulthood, hear me out. Children’s books teach important lessons about friendship, family, learning, and pursuing your dreams — lessons that are applicable at any age.  I’ve got a list of five children’s books I think are evergreen and can be learned from at any stage in life. Let’s get…

5 Books to Read this Spring

Spring has finally sprung! With spring officially having started on March 20, I’m still waiting for it to feel like spring in Nashville. With the promise of 65 degree weather for the coming weekend, my hopes are high. I can’t wait to pop open a new book on my deck and enjoy the breeze while flipping pages. I’ve compiled a list of books that came out in March or are going to be released in April that I think will make fantastic spring reads. Let’s get started! Image from Bloomsbury Publishing 1. “Circe” by Madeline Miller | TBR: April 10 A fictitious tale featuring a range of mythological heroes and…
