24 Lessons Learned Before Turning 24

It’s official. I’m 24. Does this mean I can start calling myself old now and it’s acceptable? No? Okay. Jokes aside, I’m actually really excited for what this year brings! I know 24 is kind of a throw away year (as was 23), but that doesn’t mean I can’t make it a great year for myself. I feel like we always wait for big moments (whether that means a new birthday, a new start to the calendar year, or the new start to a week) to make the changes we want to see in our lives, but I’m not waiting any longer. 24 is the year I make things happen,…

Top 5 Books I’m Thankful For

I have so much in my life to be thankful for, so I figured I would continue the trend of sharing what I’m thankful for into this week. I had a lovely Thanksgiving last week with friends and family, and I’m still working my way through leftovers as I write this post. Is there anything better than Thanksgiving leftovers? I don’t think so. I have so many books to be thankful for because of what they taught me about the world and about myself, but I narrowed this weeks post down to the top 5 books I’m thankful for. Let’s get started!

Top 6 Things I’m Thankful For This Year

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving! I hope everyone enjoyed turkey day as much as I did whether that meant you were running a 5k, helping out at a soup kitchen, or simply enjoying time with your loved ones. Thanksgiving to me is always a special time of year to remember everything I have in life to be thankful for — especially the big things. I’ve had quite a wild ride this year, and so many things to be thankful for, so let’s get started! 1. Nashville. I’ve been in Nashville for a little over a year now, and it’s finally feeling like home. You have no idea how amazing that feels! I…

Top 5 Favorite Things About Thanksgiving

Honesty time? I’ve never loved Thanksgiving. I chalk it up to having to spent the day in the hospital when I was five; I don’t think I’ve been able to separate that memory from the holiday ever since. But this year, I’m trying to be more open to the holiday — I get to eat endless amounts of food, spend time with my family, and be thankful for everything I have in life. I think the message of Thanksgiving is so important: give thanks. I have so much to be thankful for, and I try to remember that every day, but I try even harder on Thanksgiving. Also, I get…

Salt to the Sea: A Book Review

Over 9,000 innocent lives lost. Over 9,000 lives that ended too soon. Over 9,000 people who didn’t get to continue their story. And I only knew about it because of a book. I was never taught about it in any classes, but the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff was one of the largest civilian casualties in World War II, and I didn’t learn about it until I picked up a book from a local bookstore. Told from four different perspectives, Salt to the Sea combines the unique journies of Joana, Florian, Emilia, and Alfred as they attempt to escape dangerous lands during World War II. Each character brings their own baggage to…

    Top 5 Nashville Coffee Shops

There are few things in this world I like more than a good coffeeshop. I personally love spending a Sunday morning in a cozy spot working on blog posts and doing the crossword (I promise I’m in my early 20s and not actually 75 despite everything that tells you otherwise). Nashville has a lot to offer in terms of good food, live music, and bar hopping, but it also has a surprising amount of local coffee shops. I haven’t hit every place yet, but I’ve compiled a list of my top five Nashville coffee shops I’ve discovered thus far. Let’s get started.

    Top 10 Guilty Pleasures

We all have habits that we know aren’t good for us, but we can’t help but keep doing them. When I was a kid, it was leaving lights on when I left a room (I’m very adamant about turning lights and electronics off whenever you don’t need them now). As an adult, they’re a little less harmful to my bank account and the environment (I hope). Guilty pleasures aren’t hurting anyone, but it’s also not something you blab about on a first date. I know I’ve got a lot of great habits, but sometimes, I can’t help but indulge in a guilty pleasure or too. Let’s get started!

Six Reasons to Use Your Local Library

If you haven’t heard, I absolutely love my local library. It’s the perfect place to go on a rainy Sunday, you get access to thousands of books, and people aren’t asking you every five minutes if you need help finding anything. I used to be very against going to the library — I wanted to own the things I read. But, now that I have to be a little more savvy with my money, I am all about my library card. This week I’m giving you SIX reasons to fall in love with your local library. Let’s get started!

    October Reading Wrap Up

October brought some new adventures, a wonderful amount of reading, and a feeling of great success when it came to my goals. There’s something about these fall months that makes me feel like I’m walking on air. I’m not sure if it’s the cozy coffee house vibes, an addition of my new favorite fall scarf to my wardrobe, or finally feeling like I’m in the right place, but October was just a bundle of joy for me. I read A LOT this past month, so let’s get started with this October reading wrap up! Books from my October TBR List Image from Penguin Books Australia 1. Salt to the Sea by Ruta…

    November TBR List

November is just around the corner, and boy am I excited! Not only is November my birthday month, but I have some fun people coming in to town for Thanksgiving that I can’t wait to spend time with. I’m keeping this month’s TBR list short and sweet because I’ve got a lot of books I’m trying to wrap up as the year comes to an end that I’ve either already mentioned in a TBR or recommendation list, and I wouldn’t want to repeat myself too much. Now, let’s get started! Image from Goodreads 1.The Dollhouse by Fiona Davis A bit of a creepy mystery, The Dollhouse follows present day Rose Lewin as she…
