    I Cut Out Carbs for a Month…

…and here’s what happened. If you know me at all, you’re probably shocked to your core that I cut carbs out of my diet for an entire month. I’m the queen of pasta and garlic bread (there’s an adorably embarrassing story about Olive Garden breadsticks and a very confused waitress from 2014 that my friends still don’t let me live down), but somehow I managed to go an entire month without both. And it’s all because of Tori. In November, my brother and his girlfriend (Tori, I’ve mentioned both of them lots on the blog since they also live in Nashville) announced that they were going to be cutting out…

    I Quit

On average, people spend over two hours a day on social media. Two hours a day wasted on scrolling, liking, commenting, and mindlessly scrolling some more. And that’s only the physical time spent on these platforms. That doesn’t even factor in the time people spend taking photos, thinking about what to send out into the void, or analyzing when the best time to post is. I want to reclaim that time. There have been countless articles and conversations about the impact of social media on our brains, the most notable, to me, being Simon Sinek’s conversation about Millennials in the workplace and social media addiction. While I don’t necessarily agree with…

    We're Going to Disneyland!

Actually, we already went. And it was just as magical as I thought it would be. I grew up in Florida, so I’ve been to Disney World plenty of times, but the first time I really experienced it was when I went during the spring break of my freshman year of college with my best friend. That’s when I caught the Disney bug. He’s obsessed with Disney, and we went all out for spring break — park hopping, fancy meals, riding thunder mountain twelve times in a row, it was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. If you read my post from last week, you’ll know that…

6 Things I Learned At My First Comic Con

Last Friday I flew out to Long Beach, California for my first comic con ever. If you’re like most people that know me, you’re probably wondering how the heck I got involved in a comic con, and it’s all because of my brother’s girlfriend, Tori. Tori is an incredibly talented artist (check her stuff out at torianne.ink or follow her on social media at torianne00) who has an amazing style and gift for art I have always admired. So, when she asked me to attend a comic con with her where she would be giving two presentations and selling her work in the Artist’s Alley, I jumped at the chance. If…

Top 7 Young Adult Books To Read At Any Age

I am of the firm opinion that one is never too old to enjoy a young adult novel. YA authors tend to tackle topics like sexuality, abuse, mental health, and family dynamics in an easily digestible manner that can teach anyone at any age about an important life topic. I continue to read YA novels in my free time because I feel like I still have something to learn about the developing mind. I’ve got a list of seven YA novels that I think people can read at any age to learn more about themselves and others. Let’s get started! Image from Amazon 1. “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”…

    How To Create Healthy Habits

I hate to be that person, but I’ve been pretty good about sticking to my new year’s resolutions and kicking butt in 2018. The other morning, my roommate came downstairs and caught me reading my book and drinking tea before work and she begged me to just have one unhealthy habit (trust me, I have plenty including an unhealthy relationship with sweets and a bad habit of napping when I have 10,000 things to do), which got me to thinking about how I developed my current healthy habits that I try to practice every day. I’ve talked about wanting to create habits before in my New Year, New Resolutions post, but…

Top 5 Romance Novels to Read this Valentine’s Day

I’m not a frequenter of the romance aisle, but there’s no better time to start than on Valentine’s Day. Whether you’ve got a significant other this year or not, reading a classic romance novel is sure to get you in the loving mood. I recommend stocking up on some pink and red cupcakes, sugar cookies, and a box of chocolates before your dive into your new read — you’re sure to need them when the tears start flowing. I’ve got five recommendations for you to add to your list. Let’s get started! Image from nicholassparks.com 1. “The Last Song” by Nicholas Sparks This was the first book I ever read…

10 Things To Do On Valentine’s Day That Are Better Than Going On A Date

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be spending it alone with a box (or two) of Oreos. Don’t pity me! I am stoked to spend the evening in bed in comfy sweatpants watching a romantic comedy by myself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you if you haven’t found your special someone yet, and better yet, there’s nothing wrong with you if you don’t want to find them right now. We all find love in our time. So, for now, I say enjoy being with yourself — make it an adventure! Who says you have to constantly be around other people to…
