How’s everyone doing? There’s no denying that this was a tough week. I am once again saddened to my core about the current events in this nation. I can’t put into words what I am feeling, though words should be the one thing I have. I want to give everyone a giant group hug right now. I hope everyone can take a moment this weekend to hug their loved ones a little tighter and decompress from this sad event. Let’s get into what’s been catching my eye this week… one | a breakdown of what happened at the capitol on Wednesday… If you somehow missed the news, here’s what happened…
2021 Intention & Goals
I know it’s cheesy, but I love a new year. I love turning to a blank page in a notebook. I love setting goals and benchmarks. I love feeling like it’s a fresh start. My boyfriend and I actually set goals together this year (this was great for us individually as well as a couple, in my opinion), and we plan to hold one another accountable to achieving our dreams. We are both very driven and want to accomplish a lot in our lives, so having a built-in accountability buddy is very helpful. I’ve listed out ten goals below (it’s a lot, I know), but some are one-and-done, some are…
Books I Read in 2020
2020 was both my best and worst year yet for reading! I read more books than I ever have before, but most books were of a lesser quality in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I still read some awe-inspiring books, but I was mainly reading for escape, so while a lot of stories were entertaining, they didn’t have that 5-star pow I usually expect. I made a heavily curated 2021 TBR list (look out for that next week), so I’m hoping to read some more amazing books next year. In 2020, I read… Seventy books 28.5% audiobooks 35.7% e-books 35.7% physical books 30% non-fiction 70% fiction Five anti-racist education…
Week of Outfits | 12.27.20 — 01.02.21
I’m starting a new series on the blog to chronicle every single outfit of 2021. I noticed myself getting very lazy with my wardrobe in the last few months, and I want to cultivate my own style in 2021. To hold myself accountable, I’m posting a round-up of all my outfits the previous week each Sunday. I promise to get better at the selfie-taking as this goes on! Let’s get started! Sunday, December 27 I spent the day running errands and hanging around the apartment. I had spotty service and no wi-fi for most of the day as an aftermath of the Christmas bombing in Nashville, so I got a…
Catching My Eye | 01.01.21
Happy 2021! How good does that feel to say? I had a very low-key New Year’s Eve cuddled up on the couch at home with my boyfriend watching Star Wars, but I made the amazing charcuterie/snack-plate below that we munched on all night long. I’m looking forward to 2021. I know it’s not going to be all that different from 2020 if we are being honest in terms of the pandemic, but it still feels like an amazing fresh start. I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday and is looking forward to a new year! Let’s get into what’s been catching my eye this week! one | tips…
Books I Read in December
Happy last book wrap up of 2020! I can’t believe we made it y’all. As of this post, I read SEVENTY books in 2020! That’s an insane amount of reading, and I definitely have Libby to thank for that. I’ll be posting a full list of ALL the books I read in 2020 in the new year with a full breakdown including what format I read the most of, BIPOC, and more. But for now, here’s what I read in December. Let’s get started! one | The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware — E-Book Not all is as it seems at Heatherbrae House, and Rowan has stepped right…
Top 10 Books I Read in 2020
2020 was a year for the books — literally. I read more this year than I ever have before. To be honest, there weren’t a lot of knock-me-off-my-feet books, but there were a few. Here are the top 10 books I read in 2020. Let’s get started! one | The Arc of a Scythe (Series) by Neil Schusterman This series takes place in a dystopian future where people can only die if a Scythe kills them. Humans are immortal, there is no hunger, and crime is a thing of the past. One day, Citra and Rowan are both chosen to be an apprentice to Scythe Farraday. Two apprentices is unheard of, and…
Catching My Eye | 12.18.20
Happy Friday! I’m taking next week off of blogging to enjoy time at home for the first time in over a year. Earlier this week, I was really stressing out about flying — it’s not a thing I like on a good day much less in the middle of a pandemic — and it made me think about the fact that everyone is just doing their best right now. There is so much shame online right now if you do anything other than stay at home, and I think we as a society need to be a little less judgemental. For the most part, we are all doing our best, so let’s…
Underrated Last Minute Gift Ideas
Was it just me or was shopping for Christmas presents was harder than usual this year? I couldn’t think of any good, creative ideas. I’ve almost got everyone covered on my list at this point, but if you’ve got some last-minute shopping to do, check out my ideas. Let’s get started! one | socks This is only a good idea for those 18+ because kids will feel gypped, but I haven’t met a single adult who doesn’t love a good pair of socks for the holidays. two | a playlist I know we aren’t burning CDs anymore for our friends and family, but I still think a well-curated playlist for…
Top 10 Books to Give as Gifts
Christmas is just around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you still have some people on your list to shop for. Last year I finished my Christmas shopping weeks ahead of time, but this year, like most other things, Christmas presents were not coming to me as easily as usual. Here are some books I think would make the perfect gift for anyone on your list. Let’s get started! one | The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin Every city has a soul. The soul can be a beautiful thing or a destructive element. New York City has five souls. Five people that feel like a part of…
