It’s no secret that I love giving books to my friends and family during the holiday season. Sometimes I gift them something that fits their personality (like a coffee table book) or I find a perfect, evergreen book to gift them. I’m going to breakdown the best books to give this holiday season for anyone in your life. Let’s get started! one | for the person who loves working on themselves… Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. We all know Shonda Rhimes as the truly amazing screenwriter for shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, but aside from her writing skills, Rhimes usually liked to stay behind the scenes. She passed up opportunity after opportunity…

It is time to cozy down with some books! As COVID numbers continue to rise and temperatures continue to drop, I am planning to spend more and more time inside. And you know what that means? More books! Here are my top 10 books to read this holiday season to get you in the spirit, distract you from family drama, or entertain you while you wait for turkeys to cook or Santa to arrive! Let’s get started! one | One Day in December by Josie Silver Laurie and Jack lock eyes through a bus window on a snowy December day. Before she can make a move, he’s gone. Laurie spends…
Books I Read in October
Another month of 2020 has come and gone! Goodbye October, hello November! I didn’t read anywhere near everything I wanted to read in October, but I’m trying to be okay with that. I participated in a TBR challenge, and didn’t succeed at all! I started all of the books, but only finished one. Oh well! There’s always next month. Let’s get into what I read in October! one | Patsy by Nicole Dennis-Benn Patsy knows her future is in America. Her best friend Cicely moved there years ago, and she can’t help but think better things are waiting for her across the ocean in New York. The only thing is,…
Top 10 Books To Recommend To Non-Readers
As a book lover, I love sharing my library with friends. Believe it or not, not all of my friends like reading. It breaks my heart a little bit, but I do have a few books I always recommend because they are a guaranteed hit, even with non-readers. Let’s get started! one | The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid Monique lives in modern-day New York and is writing about the life of the 50s movie starlet Evelyn Hugo. Evelyn chronicles her life to Monique, so much of the story actually taking place in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. As Evelyn tells Monique about the trials and tribulations…
15 Spooky Season Book Recommendations
Spooky season is in full swing at my house! My roommate and I have already started watching Halloween-themed movies (check out Wednesday’s post for my recommendations/to-watch list), and we carved pumpkins this weekend. Even though the pandemic is still very much a part of our lives, I’m really glad this season is upon us, and we can still do fun things while staying safe. As we all know, my favorite thing to do in any season is read. So here are my spooky season book recommendations that I have already read and loved. Let’s get started! one | A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab Follow me to a…
Books I Read in September
Happy October! September was quite the month, and it was definitely an eventful month when it came to reading. I read nine books ranging from a non-fiction memoir, an educational marketing book, two books that were the last in their series, an antiracist read, and more. Let’s get started on the books I read in September! one | Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb — E-Book Therapists are people too. They have opinions, they struggle with normal problems like breakups and feeling the impending doom of their own death, they curse — basically, they are just like us. This is Lori Gottlieb’s main message in her book Maybe You…
Top TV Shows to Watch Based on Books
I promise this post isn’t sponsored by Netflix. I don’t watch a ton of TV because most of my free time is spent reading, but when I do, I’m a big binge-watcher. During quarantine, my boyfriend and I have been watching shows together, switching off who gets to pick what we are watching next, and it got me thinking about all of the amazing TV shows based on books. There are so many out there, but these are the ones I’ve personally watched. Let’s get started! one | Gossip Girl Gossip Girl is such a classic television series, and it’s the perfect time to binge the series. The television series is…
Books I Read in August
Back to my normal reading numbers! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed by the low number of books I read this month, but five books is such a realistic number to read (for me). I also almost finished one book (which will be in my September wrap up) and got half-way through a 900-page book, so I’m trying not to get too down on myself. Real talk — It can be hard being a blogger/bookstagramer who sees people reading 30 books a month when I can, usually, barely get through five. When I’m feeling down about my numbers, I try to remind myself that five is better…
Top 10 Fall Book Releases of 2020
As a nation, we are all embracing fall like we never have before. Bring on the Pumpkin Spice Lattes, autumn-scented candles, cozy blankets, and sunflower decor. We have arrived, and we are thriving. I feel like we all need a change, and since fall is arguably the best season, we are soaking it up for all it is worth. That being said, obviously, my favorite thing about fall is all the amazing new books being released. Let’s get started… one | The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton I recently read and loved The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, so I knew I had to read Stuart Turton’s latest release. Samuel…
Best Books from Female Authors
Happy Women’s Equality Day! Today celebrates the adoption of the 19th amendment which gave women the right to vote. Now, it would be remiss if I didn’t mention that not all women were granted the right to vote on this day 100 years ago, but it was a small step in the right direction. Small steps turn into giant leaps eventually (I hope). I wanted to celebrate some of my favorite female authors and authors I hope to read more from. I have so many female authors I love, so I left a little list of honorable mentions at the bottom of this post. Let’s get started… Books I’ve Read one | The Great Believers by…
