    June 2020 Goals

We’re almost halfway through June, but it’s never too late to share a little goal setting, is it? I have to admit, I haven’t been nearly as goal-oriented as I usually am since the coronavirus forced us all indoors for the past three months, but I’m trying to get back in the swing of things as the world starts going again. These are some overarching goals for the month, and I hope to knock them off my to-do list, but I obviously have 8 million other things I’d like to accomplish. I’ve got to start somewhere though. Let’s get started! 1// Develop my plan for continuing to educate myself on…

    My Ideal Morning Routine

Confession time: I’ve been off my A-game for quite some time now, but I am ready to get back into it. I don’t know what happened, but I have not been able to get out of bed lately! I used to be really good about waking up early and getting in a workout and reading time before work, but lately I’ve been rolling out of bed at 6:30 with barely enough time to pack my lunch. I thought it would be a good idea for me to share what my ideal morning routine would be to help me get back in my groove. Let’s get started!   I have to…

Does anyone else feel like this week lasted for forever? I had a lot of ups and downs, so I feel like by the end of every day I was so emotionally drained that I needed to sleep for 10 hours (and I was lucky if I got six). With everything going on this week, it got me thinking about happiness. Happiness is such a weird thing to describe to someone, but to me, happiness is freedom – freedom to enjoy a moment, freedom to think about something other than your most pressing problem, freedom to make your own choices. I think by now, we all know that happiness is…

    Educated: A Review

Educated is the story of what happens when you have nothing to rely on but yourself, a book, and some very willing loved ones to get you out of a tough situation. Tara Westover was raised in a strict Mormon household in the mountains of Idaho. In addition to being conservative, traditional parents, Tara’s parents were also survivalists. Tara, along with her six other siblings, was homeschooled for the majority of her life, worked either in the junkyard with their father or in the kitchen putting together homeopathic remedies with her mother, and was always prepared for the second-coming. At 17, Tara was convinced by her older brother, Tyler, to leave…

    Favorite Book Quotes

I’ve always loved a good quote. I feel like if I’m going through something, whether it’s good or bad, I can always find a quote that perfectly encapsulates how I’m feeling. I’ve gotten into the habit of adding to my notes in my phone every time I come across a quote in a book I like, so I thought I would share a few. Each quote means something different to me and reminds me to make the most of what I have. Let’s get started! 1. “I’m under absolutely no obligation to make sense to you.” — Evelyn Hugo, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo 2. “Happiness can be found, even…

Another week in the books! This week was especially fantastic because I got a cat! I’ve been talking about getting a cat for so long that some of my good friends already thought I had a cat. I brought home the precious nugget below on Saturday, and she’s just the cutest little cuddle bug already. I love being a cat mom, and I’m so glad I have her in my life even if she tries to sleep on my face. Her name is Maggie courtesy of my roommate (who I’m slowly turning into a cat person). Other than having a snuggle butt sharing my bed now, I caught up with some friends…

Lately, I’ve been feeling like every week is the same. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday drag by with me checking the hour every hour, and then Thursday and Friday are gone in the blink of an eye. I’ve been really busy lately with moving, but things are slowly coming together. I got my bedspread last night, and despite finding two spiders crawling around in it (EW!), I absolutely love it. This weekend, I’m tackling more organization and decoration in my room and throughout the apartment. If you’ve got any tips, please send them my way! But for now, let’s get into what’s been catching my eye… 1. This insight into Alexandria…

10 Reading Habits You Shouldn’t Be Ashamed Of

I believe everyone appreciates books in a different way. I also believe we can all enjoy books in a variety of ways, and that’s okay. There is no one right way to read a book. There is no one right type of book to read. And there is no one in this world that should make you feel guilty about what or how you like to read. Let’s get started with the 10 reading habits you shouldn’t be ashamed of. 1. Reading more than one book at a time. I used to have a friend that would shame me for reading more than one book at a time. It’s something…

    2019 Goals: An Update

I can’t believe I’m saying it, but we are officially halfway through 2019. It feels like yesterday I was sharing my goals for the year, and now it’s time for a little update. Overall, 2019 has been going pretty well. There’ve been more than a few bumps in the road, but I can’t really complain. I’ve gotten more enmeshed in Nashville life than ever before, I’ve made really great friendships in the last few months, and I’ve got more exciting changes coming in the second half of the year. Something that really helps me stick to my goals and keep them top of mind is bullet journaling. I create a spread…

    Summer Bucket List

Summer is in full swing in Nashville. I’ve spent a few days at the pool and enough days in the sun to feel that summer has sunk in, and this one is going to be a hot one. This summer is entirely different from last summer for me, so I’m ready to make the most of it. Maybe it’s because I’m from Florida, and I was basically raised in a perpetual summer, but I don’t hate this season as much as other people. I look forward to the sweaty days and reading in the park, the long summer nights and the early summer mornings. There’s something in the air during the summertime,…
