Hi there! Happy 2020! I know I’ve been gone for a while, but I’m back. For now. I’m not sure how long I’ll be back, but I know I’m at my best when I’m writing regularly, and blogging is a great way to hold myself accountable, so for now, I’m back. The last few months of 2019 were a great treat. I turned 25 at the end of November, celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas with my family in Nashville, and reigned in the new year with some of my favorite people by my side. I’m excited to see what 2020 brings! I know some people hate new year’s resolutions, but I think the…
The Southern Festival of Books
This past weekend Humanities Tennessee hosted the 31st annual Southern Festival of Books in Nashville. The festival featured around 50 booths of independent booksellers, book stores, writing workshops, writing societies, and more. In addition to the booths, there were sessions upon sessions throughout the three days that featured authors from across the spectrum of writing. I spent almost my entire day on Saturday at the festival, and it was heaven to me. I started with a session called “Coffee with Authors” which featured Alexi Zentner, author of Copperhead; Anissa Gray, author of The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls; Karen Thompson Walker, author of The Dreamers; and Taylor Jenkins Read, author of Daisy Jones &…

And just like that, another week has come and gone! Except this week was super special for me because it marked my last week at my job. I’d been at my job for just over a year, and it was a truly wonderful experience that taught me so much. I’m leaving to be an account executive at a start-up public relations firm in Nashville, and nothing could make me happier. When I looked into moving to Nashville about three years ago, it was because I wanted to work at a PR firm in the city. And to finally be able to tell people that I am doing that, well, it’s…
My Ideal Morning Routine
Confession time: I’ve been off my A-game for quite some time now, but I am ready to get back into it. I don’t know what happened, but I have not been able to get out of bed lately! I used to be really good about waking up early and getting in a workout and reading time before work, but lately I’ve been rolling out of bed at 6:30 with barely enough time to pack my lunch. I thought it would be a good idea for me to share what my ideal morning routine would be to help me get back in my groove. Let’s get started! I have to…

Does anyone else feel like this week lasted for forever? I had a lot of ups and downs, so I feel like by the end of every day I was so emotionally drained that I needed to sleep for 10 hours (and I was lucky if I got six). With everything going on this week, it got me thinking about happiness. Happiness is such a weird thing to describe to someone, but to me, happiness is freedom – freedom to enjoy a moment, freedom to think about something other than your most pressing problem, freedom to make your own choices. I think by now, we all know that happiness is…

What a week! These last few days have been a whirlwind of emotion, but for very good reasons! I can’t share the good news quite yet, but big things are going on! Something I’ve touched on a few times on here but never really delved into is the importance of friendships. This past week has proven to me more than ever how important it is to surround yourself with people that lift you up and support you no matter what. They may ask some tough questions, but they are going to be by your side no matter what. Good friends are also just as thrilled for your success as you…
Fall Bucket List
I’ve decided that if I talk about fall enough, I can will it into existence. It’s still unbelievably hot here in Nashville, and while I’m not entirely ready for summer to be over (I’m from Florida, sue me), I am ready to be able to throw on sweaters and jeans when I leave the house. To get me (and everyone else) in the mood for the new season, I figured I would share a little fall bucket list. Let’s get started! 1. Drink apple cider. I’ve never been a hot drink person, but I love apple cider. There’s something about sitting in a cafe with a scarf wrapped around my…

What a fun week! My best friend from college got into town on Saturday, and we had the best time doing all the nerdy things Nashville has to offer — like going to local bookstores, eating at chain restaurants, and watching classic Amanda Bynes movies. On Tuesday, we went and saw the Jonas Brothers, and it was truly the best concert I have been to. They were probably my favorite boy band growing up, and getting to see them live was a dream come true. The rest of the week was pretty normal, and I’m looking forward to a pretty quiet weekend. I’m seeing Dear Evan Hanson on Sunday with my roommate,…

Boy was this a short week! Typically, short weeks feel longer than normal weeks, but not this one! It felt like Friday before I could even blink. After a relaxing weekend at the beach with friends, I actually took this week pretty easy as well. I had a meeting on Wednesday and a networking event on Thursday, but I’m taking tonight off since I have a friend coming into town tomorrow for the Jonas Brothers concert on Tuesday. I’m excited to get to show her around Nashville after living here for a bit longer. Let’s get into what’s been catching my eye this week… 1. This explainer on the Hong…

It’s a long weekend! Who has fun plans? I’m heading down to the beach with a group of friends, and I could not be more excited for a chill, fun weekend. Believe it or not, I don’t think I’ve taken a beach weekend since college. Since I’m from Florida and only grew up about 20 minutes from the beach, it’s never something I crave since I can go anytime I’m home (yes, even over Christmas), but I’m still really looking forward to this weekend. I haven’t gotten away from Nashville since February, so it’s a well overdue trip. This week was actually insane. I met with a few people about…
